It's the end of the 19th century and the end of an era. Humankind begins to expand into Mother Nature's domain, leading to disastrous consequences for the natives of the land. Many grow desperate to maintain their territory or stake their claim in any land in any way they can. As human settlement continues to threaten nature, the wolves of the five western states face a grueling decision: survival by all means necessary or die trying.
We are a semi-realistic, liquid-time, sandbox-esque wolf roleplay very loosely based off of the world of Red Dead Redemption II. Vestige offers a variety of diverse regions spanning five different states to explore, an automated shop, and user-led packs. How will you leave your pawprints on the world of Vestige?
WEATHER Snow finally arrives to the West with the arrival of winter! Ambarino's nights get colder and longer, while the states of West Elizabeth and New Hanover get their share of snowfall. New Austin and Lemoyne are spared from the frost, but there is a distinct, wintery chill in the air.
EVENTS Rumors spread of NEW PACKS FORMING throughout the five states. In addition, canines in the region of BIG VALLEY, WEST ELIZABETH are having more frequent run-ins with hunters seeking out prized commodities: wolf, coyote, and fox pelts to trade.

Their eyelids fluttered open slowly at the chirping of birds just outside of their makeshift shelter. The pain in their pawpads and muscles from the running had subsided, and today they awoke with a much clearer head than the days before. The weariness in Jax's bones began to fade, and in this bright morning they found themselves with considerably more energy and stability than there once was not too long ago. Much to their unstable self's surprise, the denizens of the Redfrost Pack did not have the intention to kill them and use their flesh as a sacrifice to God (the same God? or another?). In fact, they were taken aback by the hospitable treatment that was offered to him, though he hardly spoke more than mere stammers. Once they determined that this territory was in fact safe, they found themselves settling and regaining some of their clarity.
The coyote stirred from the grasp of slumber and ventured into the sunlight, taking a moment for their eyes to adjust before continuing onward. They were not used to the warmth of Grizzlies East, but it was far from unwelcome. They found the heat much preferable to the bitter, everlasting chill of the western half of the mountain range. It wasn't miserable to simply walk out from one's densite and venture through territory, though they accredited the majority of this to the lack of snow in this region during the summer. They felt that the transition back to the western region would be painstakingly arduous after spending time here in this Eden.
Am I going back? Jax suddenly thought, twitching their ear at the idea. Was there even a reason to return to Grizzlies West, to put themselves in a position of fear once more? They would likely be executed on the spot if their family or anyone in the union saw them. Perhaps they would return for—
He's good as dead to me. Don't you start. False hope was how they hurt themselves.
Pushing the thoughts away, Jax focused on his surroundings. The Redfrost territory was one they had yet to fully explore and get accustomed to, and they figured that with their energy returning, now would be a decent time to begin their personal tour of the land. Wordlessly they trekked just beyond the Redfrost dens and into the unknown.

WRATHMANGE
"Lay bare you soul to the beasts of the woods. Nature itself will whisper your secrets to me and I promise I shall give them purpose."
The night had been quite eventful while simultaneously providing a nice, tranquil evening during which the strange leader of Redfrost could respectfully hold her vigil. A close friend, family for all intents and purposes, had given themself to the Altar a couple days ago to please the One, and it seemed that their sacrifice had been heard, for as Wrathmange began her ritual, a divine messenger had come careening in. To say that Mange was exhilarated would be an understatement.
Enthusiasm had bubbled up inside her as she spoke to the little coyote friend, but she had managed to curb it for the most part until they fell asleep. She, on the other hand, had not slept at all. Even once the vigil was over, Mange was giddy with anticipation and could not catch a wink if she had tried. Truly, this newcomer was a blessing, one which Wrathmange would not be letting pass her by. As such, the wolf had stayed up all night and into the wee hours of the morning, long enough to catch the warm sunrise. As the big, bright orb rose further into the sky, Mange laid down in a soft patch of grass nearby her rock pile, and rested.
A few hours passed, during which the morning calls of various beasts across the land could be heard. The sun shone through the trees, around their thick stalks covered in tough, inedible skin and quickly warmed the air around Grizzlies East. Wrathmange's dreams were pleasant right up until they ceased altogether as she awoke with a yawn. She opened her eyes just enough to peek at the sunlit world, and she perked her ears to catch the early greetings of those fleeting creatures that coexisted around her. Her coyote friend was nowhere to be seen, but the trail was still warm; Mange was unconcerned. She silently hoped that whatever they were doing, wherever they were exploring, they enjoyed it. After shaking off the dew from her pelt and dissolving the remaining stiffness from her body, she headed off in search of her Messenger.
The last place she remembered seeing them was near the dens, which she had shown them the way to during a brief pause in the quiet moonlit vigil, so she started there and worked her way out. Very quickly did she catch the trail, and on swift, eager paws, she loped further across the land. While this place was primarily flat, it did benefit from being relatively nearby a mountain range. The cool air often drifted down from the peaks of Grizzlies West and sank into the pseudo-valley that Wrathmange called home. The land here was perfectly warm, not always sweltering in the summer given that the trees provided much shade and the water was not too far to be a chore to reach. It certainly was lush and vibrant, in the summer. Wrathmange trotted along until she caught up with the coyote whose name she couldn't quite recall having caught last night, sidling up quietly and clearing her throat to announce her presence. Purely as a cordiality, of course. "How are you feeling, my friend? You had a frightful moment, last night. Yes."
Though they were far from adjusted to the presence of the wolf they encountered in the previous evening, the coyote felt little fear in her presence, perhaps due to her calming, generous nature. They were careful not to let their guard down just so soon, but if she was so hospitable as to give them a place to rest in the evening while they recovered from the Godforsaken incident, the least they could do is appropriately respond to her inquiries.
Jax paused, their paws hardening on the ground below them, and they turned to meet the gentle gaze of the much larger canine who seemed to have made an effort to trail after them. With a minor lag in thought, they were able to piece together functioning, coherent sentences, a decent step up from the mad screams of last night. "Better, friend," they said, doing their best to mimic the passive tone of the other. "I do apologize for last night. Malnourishment and the absence of sleep are killers." They attempted to crack a smile for the female. Countless nights of running with little to no food or water, save for the occasional equally-starved rodent that would come their way, would unsurprisingly do a great number on the lean coyote who had nothing on their mind but the word escape. The effects of such deprivation hardly hit them until they saw the sun, when everything came crashing and they met The Beast...or what they thought was The Beast. Jax knew the wolf had another name for it, but they struggled to recall it as of this morning.
A name. Perhaps now, in full sobriety and lucidity, would be the time for a proper introduction. "My name is Jax. I come from Grizzlies West," the smaller canine continued. "And...I hope I didn't disturb your vigil, ma'am." They felt it was a lame and weak apology to give to her, but presently it was the most they could do.
