It's the end of the 19th century and the end of an era. Humankind begins to expand into Mother Nature's domain, leading to disastrous consequences for the natives of the land. Many grow desperate to maintain their territory or stake their claim in any land in any way they can. As human settlement continues to threaten nature, the wolves of the five western states face a grueling decision: survival by all means necessary or die trying.
We are a semi-realistic, liquid-time, sandbox-esque wolf roleplay very loosely based off of the world of Red Dead Redemption II. Vestige offers a variety of diverse regions spanning five different states to explore, an automated shop, and user-led packs. How will you leave your pawprints on the world of Vestige?
WEATHER Snow finally arrives to the West with the arrival of winter! Ambarino's nights get colder and longer, while the states of West Elizabeth and New Hanover get their share of snowfall. New Austin and Lemoyne are spared from the frost, but there is a distinct, wintery chill in the air.
EVENTS Rumors spread of NEW PACKS FORMING throughout the five states. In addition, canines in the region of BIG VALLEY, WEST ELIZABETH are having more frequent run-ins with hunters seeking out prized commodities: wolf, coyote, and fox pelts to trade.

Species/Breed | Great Plains Wolf Here prowls a wolf - a creature whose plum-sable fur just barely hides an emaciated form beneath a soft peach undercoat. Coarse, rusty red fur blankets her body and head, while her warm underbelly and long, gangling legs remain that unmistakable color of yellow peach pulp in the summertime. Her mask is dark plum purple, and covers the majority of her snout up to the bridge of her nose just between two milky blue eyes.
While standing alert, she is pegged to be just at 26", and is 77 pounds sopping wet

With caution and precision, the gentle wolf weaves her way through this world. Her desire for knowledge lends to her understated inquisitive aura, which she radiates without having to speak a word; she's quiet and contemplative, an attentive listener with a curious mind. Approach with gentleness this kind soul, whose understanding of the world comes solely through the very limited senses though which she can perceive it.

No one expected a sickly, disgrace of a runt such as this wolf pup to live past her first week, but she did. From the very start, Toxx's life was mired in drama and rife with disadvantage. Her mother was shamed for birthing such a weak pup, and her sire had disowned them both by the time she was old enough to crawl for him. The pack she was born into was intolerant of weakness; they killed or neglected anyone young or old who could not contribute or would not grow to be able to. With this mindset, the tiny red puppy would be left to die on a riverbank outside the pack borders one dreary evening after a particularly fruitless hunt.
The pickings were growing steadily slimmer, the beasts of prey mysteriously sparse these days. As rain fell and the pup lay silently on the riverside, she whimpered and cried out to a world she could not understand. She was unable to see, though her eyes were wide and the rain splashed into them every so often, though she barely had anything remarkable to behold at the present. What she knew were the scents and sounds of a cruel, unforgiving world, where it was eat or be eaten, so as a strange and unfamiliar scent drew nearer and the sounds of squished grass grew louder over the rush of the river, the runt was sure she would be consumed indeed.
Instead, a lovely old squirrel atop a large beast gently embraced her and adopted her as his own and they all went home together. For the next solid year, though life was still hard, things were at least a great deal nicer for the adolescent wolf. She had her disadvantages, but she learned patience and mindfulness, awareness of her surroundings and respect for the Balance. With time, the old grizzled squirrel faded away, giving his spirit back to nature from whence it came. It nourished the land it touched, and as saddened by his death as the young wolf was, Toxx knew that it was inevitable, and that as long as the Balance remained un-tilted, all would continue to be well. Unfortunately, something else more dangerous was yet to come, swift and deadly, and very much unexpected. As the prey had grown sparser with the passing months, Toxx had been forced to venture further each time to hunt.
One day Toxx had wandered back to the edge of her old pack's territory when she practically tripped over the body of one of their scouts. It was a young wolf, not too much older than herself, and certainly more able-bodied in life; however, no body - however able - could resist the cold touch of death. The very air around this wolf was putrid, he must have been dead for days, and no one had come for him. Morbidly curious, but hesitant to find out, the rust and peach she wolf pressed further into the territory. She found nearly an entire pack of wolves dead of disease, the scent of decay pervading the air. It accosted her nostrils, and with a mighty sneeze, she awoke the single living entity around. They pleaded for death as she drew near, coughing and sputtering weakly. They told her that the others had died slowly over the course of that morning, and that they were just late to the party. So hungry had the wolves all been by the end that they had resorted to cannibalism. Perhaps that is what ultimately became their demise, the dying wolf pondered, then they, too, fell limp upon the grassy floor.
Days later, Toxx found herself coughing and hacking, wheezing and gasping for air and laying on the very riverbank which she had begun her journey. And as in the beginning, she thought of death and its cold, bitter embrace. She welcomed it, this time. That pack had been nothing but trouble for her, and deep in the back of her mind Toxx could hear the echoes of her darkest thoughts growing louder until she could do nothing but scream... But when she tried, only the whisper of the air could be heard. Weakly, the wolf crawled closer to the river and slid straight into the water to let it carry her away. She floated along for what seemed like ages, slipping in and out of consciousness as this illness raged on. Finally Toxx woke up on the floor of some structure she did not understand, with no memory of how she got there; she wasn't fully sure of anything except that she was no longer dying. When she stood, she heard a rustling and a grunt, and smelled something unfamiliar on the air. Waiting was not an option, her curiosity would have to be suppressed; her mind was reeling, still groggy from recovery and panicking in this new strange setting. The wolf scrambled around until she found a threshold, then bolted. Not long after as she stumbled away in no direction in particular she heard loud, sharp barks of thunder and a great deal of yelling which sent her careening faster into the great beyond.
